Ive change the location of my default desktop folder to another map on the same drive but different partition.

I did this by changing the folder location through the propertys of the map "desktop" in C:\users\my_user_name\Desktop" to X:\Me\Deskop.
This works fine, desktop items apear and works properly.

Until ofcourse, I reboot or logoff. Then the default location restores to the windows folder . I changed all the other folder like music, documents, favorites also to the X:\Me\... partition and those ones stay just fine, so there is only a problem with the desktop folder.

I changed the values of the following regedit's :) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Same problem, reboot, only the desktop value restores back to default.

Any solutions?

Values of Desktop are reverted to default values after logoff? I think they are reverted back when logon!

Does this work; browse to your user folder and right click on the desktop folder. Choose properties, then the “location” tab. You can set the folder location directly in there.

The regedit insert are NOT! reverted back to the defaults. Only the property's of the folder itself in C:\users\my_username\Desktop

Perfom a clean startup http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...ation-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Change location of desktop and do a clean startup again. Same problem?

Als look in registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies anything strange there?

The clean reboot thingie works! When I dsiable the "Load startup items" in msconfig i can reboot as much as I want, the folder keeps pointing to the folder I want. But when I enable it again and reboot, it resets again to default.

What does the "Load startup items" thing actually do during booting?

@Sir George, I tried that at least 40 times by now.

Well, you didn't mention you had already tried what I suggested and, since you say you tried it 40 x's already, I doubt it will work on attempt number 41.

In answer to your question "What does the "Load startup items" thing actually do during booting?" it loads the items listed when you reboot or cold boot the system. If you want to troubleshoot the one or maybe more item(s) that is/are causing the problem you can disable all of them and add each one back singularly until the problem is replicated. Then you will have narrowed down the cause.

I actually did in my start post Sir George. But no worries ;), I tried it about 40 times in all the ways i can imagine, change to other folder, reboot, change to other folder and back to default, reboot, change to other folder, default, back to other, reboot, change the regedit values and all in front again and so on.

Ill try the load startup thingie. Thank you!

My bad, you did state you had tried my suggestion...I was attempting to multitask when I replied to you and apparently got off track in my posts. I hope you can find the cause by using the "msconfig" troubleshooting technique.
