Solved Change my online name on you tube

Not knowing my actual name is pulled from Google to Gmail or somplace I want to use a new handle for you tube leaving everything else. I've seen the obvious links on Google but it looks like I have to make a new account.


Also I will not go through the hell of answering their prompts about mother's maiden name or any other intrusive rubbish. Where is the field I can simply change my online screen name?


Since I use only one email address for everything that presents the problem of 'sorry that's in use.'


It's my acount, how do I fix it for a little privacy?



Frankly I forgot or was not using you tube for posting likes comments before and it has to go through Google.

Just additionally I have no channel on youtube I am not an uploader where some of the notes say you can change your channel name. That would set off a whole 'nother round of questions.

Have you tried editing your personal info on Google Accounts? It is very easy to edit the personal info there.

I hardly remember the difference between Google and Gmail any more, I never use it or edit accounts.Please give the steps to enter the right way not going through Gmail which about all I know.


I'll make a stab at it but please follow up with the details. I was literally shocked that my street nameappeared when it did on youtube comments. I had seen my name when looking at user details, but my regular gmail handle which is plain to see is not used. Again, this is my confusion
with accounts and not knowing one direction from the other.

It worked as you suggested. That account had my name on it but for an organizational mailing list long abandoned.

But for a noob those years ago, when it says 'first name and last name won't take anything else I did the completion to get that list working.

People should have never left listservs. I am not a programmer but remember the days when things were simpler and safer.

Have you tried editing your personal info on Google Accounts? It is very easy to edit the personal info there.

Of course,a friend of mine did this and i was right next to him.

You are never required to give your REAL NAME to Goohell or anyone else online, unless you're buying something or using the Social Security site or something similar. And if you're not uploading or commenting, you don't have to register at Goohell. I have a whole string of names I use online, and each has a different user name and different 14-character PW.
