I have a full RETAIL version of Windows 7 Pro and have been testing it on my current Core2duo rig. I unticked automatically activate online and it has been counting down the days and reminding me to activate. I switched on today and got a message saying windows had successfully activated. :sarc:

Not to impressed as I was intending to revert to WinXP Pro on my existing rig and install Windows 7 Pro on a new i7 system I am buyng early in Jan.

What are the consequencies of this activation on my current system? Do I need to do anything before I revert to WinXP Pro?

The full retail version entitles you to install on as many machins that you like (only one at a time). There should be no problem installing the way that you suggest. However, there is a possiblity that you will have to talk to a technician, if problems are encountered. But that process, is painless and after a few minutes on the phone you will be ready to surf.
