Change size of folder icons and text in Outlook 2007

Hey everyone! Long time no see!

Okay, so a friend of my dad told him that he used to see the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007 in a bigger font/size before switching to a new computer with Windows 7. Obviously, we all know that upgrading Windows won't change font sizes that are coded into independent programs, so I'm thinking that maybe his old computer was running at a lower resolution. Anywho, my dad's friend asked my dad to ask me this question, and since I don't use Office 2007 anymore, I need to ask you: is there a way to change the size of the folder icons and labels in the left pane of Outlook 2007, without changing the size of anything else?

Not sure about Outlook 2007 as I've been on 2910 for a while now but if you go to the file - options - advanced and check out the options for the navigation pane there should be a font button - change this to something more appropriate to your needs andthis will not alter the other panes

If would also appear that the icons expand to match your font choice

EDIT: Still looking for confirmation from someone that this method works on Office 2007.

Thanks for that tip, Barman58! That definitely sounds like what I am looking for, although I think I'll wait to pass it on until someone can confirm that it works the same way (or similar) on Office 2007.

P.S. You must be a favorite in Redmond to have access to Office "2910"...

At this time, you cannot change the font type, color, or size in the Navigation Pane.
However, our software development team is aware of this request, to be considered for future product releases.

EDIT: Got something else to try!

The font size of the folders in the Navigation Pane is controlled by your Windows display settings.

• Go to Control panel-->Appearance and Personalization--->Personalization
  [*]Click on "Window Color and Appearance"
  [*]Click on “Window Color”
  [*]Under the Item dropdown, click Menu
  [*]Change the font and font size.

Prabz, thanks for finding that text on the Office website! Not really what I wanted to hear, but solves the mystery!

And wouldn't changing that Control Panel setting alter more than just the one part of the one program?

Sorry to hear that you can't do what you want in 2007, but my experience with 2010 ( ), does seem to confirm that the development team for 2010 did listen to user requests and and impliment the changes needed.

Now if only they listen to my issues with the file locations of the IMAP folders for Outlook as well :sarc:

Yeah, I personally am on 2010 (still beta though) and would never downgrade. I'm recommending 2010 to any Office user that doesn't have it yet.

Off-topic: Wonder how many more versions of Office it will take for the ribbon-hating holdouts to realize that MS will never go back to the 2003 interface...?
