Had a single drive...two partitions reserved and windows
added a hardware raid 5
mirrored single drive partition windows to raid 5 (both drives became dynamic)
broke mirror
deleted single drive windows partition

boots and works...as long as both drives are present...

I want to remove the single drive...but I cannot seem to figure out how to set the raid to the active drives.

msconfig only shows 1 drive current os and default os

I cannot use the 7 dvd to repair without both drives installed and it seems like all it's doing is "fixing" the single drive mbr...which does me no good.

I tried setting the active partition with diskpart...but I barely know what I'm doing...

help please?

I have tried to just reimage the drive to another...cannot find my ghost disk and acronis does not work on dynamic drives...

I'm also having the same issue with servers...we run a windows made mirrored set and when we remove drive 0 they no longer boot...

I feel stupid asking this but I have spent way too much time searching and trying things...I need pro help!

thanks!

You seem to be able to talk yourself through it when you get focused...lol.
Ask yourself one question...where does the MBR reside?

Hello tehward, welcome to Seven Forums!

I'm confused what you are trying to do but "Dynamic" disks cause more issues than they solve and may be more trouble than they are worth; have a thorough look at this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
