Hello
I have a HP, Laptop.
1 year old.

Now they changed the entire motherboard ,and re-branded the machine.

First startup

Date/time was wrong.
system tray is odd, lot of empty boxes
cant click on some icons

Step 2

I run some checks [ SFC /scannow]
[HP diagnostics application]

Boot to UEFI
set new date/time
Run some hours long-test in UEFI

Booted up windows again. Everything works, I mean no problem so far.
But I think some integrety checks needs to be done?

1 application had to reset the license, so I guess the machine identity is new.
maybe some cmd - wmic - commands can refresh the system?

- Most software activation is tied to LAN MAC address. As you changed the MB, LAN MAC address has changed and you were request for reactivating.
- Most MB has a CR2032 coin battery (non rechargeable) to sustain BIOS settings and clock when power supply is off. Some has a small rechargeable battery. On a laptop with main battery charged, the small battery isn't used.
My suggestion is to take off the charger and the main battery and leave it for a day or more (ideal = week). If it looses the clock, the BIOS and clock battery is dead and must be replaced.

I know because I myslef removed the BIOS backup-battery last week because of other reasons.

So = The Date/Time should not be an issue anymore

I am mostly looking for how to verify, check, optimize the entire OS (Windows 7 Pro)
Because it feels like something is not right.

Perhaps I can do a safe-mode boot and then normal afterwards?

As mention ,it seems like the system tray icons are ghosts.
Can not click (L/R) or activate some apps.
