Hello AnkurOn, welcome to Seven Forums!

It will have to be a clean install, there is no other way and all the data and your personal settings will all be lost; have a look at this tutorial at the link below.

Be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

If I may ask, why do you need to take such a drastic step, maybe there's another solution that will help?

Actually most Applications and Programs dont run on 64 bit and i do think that it is much slower so i need to take 32 bit .

You cannot downgrade ! What you have to do is clean installation (that is reinstallation with formatting the partition), that Bare Foot Kid advised .

It would not be a wise decision to bounce back to XP , coz 7 is way better and easier to use . You can use 32 bit easily, I also use it . Try that clean install , it is easier enough .

I'd beg to differ there. The only apps which truly don't run are 16bit apps...but I'm willing to bet you don't have many of those.

I hate to tell you this now that you got Windows 7 x64 working but you are not going to get much benefit from running a 64-bit system with only 3GB RAM. The main advantage of upgrading to a 64-bit system is to be able to use more than the 4GB limit in 32-bit Windows.

Most of the programs you can run in Windows 7 32-bit will run quite happily in Windows 64-bit but you will have to get new drivers for your printer / scanner / graphics card / etc. Most of these will be sorted out if you do a clean install as recommended by 'Bare Foot Kid'.

There are a few classic games like Black & White and Dungeon Siege which ran on Windows XP but are not that happy on Windows 7 even in XP compatibility mode but there are fixes (Google it) which make them very playable in Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit.

As for your anti-virus, just go with what you are already happy with - they all work equally well on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit. I prefer AVAST! because there is a nice Lady that tells you that "Your Avast virus database has been updated" every morning when you get connected to the internet. This is probably not a major selling point, but I find it kinda nice to know that my internet connection is working because that is something that is not always guaranteed where I live.
