Solved Changing Computer Name...

So i bought a computer form a guy on craigslist and everything is registered into his name. So i changed the computer name to mine but i still have the actual username under his, how can i change this?

No i did that. But if you go to Computer> Local Disk> Users, his name is still the username. and I cant change it.

Hello Dakotizza, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I think you meant to change the user account name. If so, then changing the user account name in "User Accounts" in the Control Panel only changes the name displayed at log on and in the Start Menu. It will not change the "C:\Users\(user-name)" folder name. Instead both names are tied to the user account.

The only way to do this is to create a new administrator account, then delete the old user account while logged on to the new one.

You might also double check using the tutorial below to see if you may need to change the registered owner and organization as well. It's the same in Windows 7.

And if you want to change whom Windows is now registered to, then you can go to the Registry Editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version and change the RegisteredOwner and RegisteredOrganization keys.
