Changing Desktop View

I have two cables going from my video card to my monitor, a DVI and HDMI.

This causes Windows to presume I have two monitors, which I don't, so I was wondering what I could do to either make it believe I only have one, or how I can switch between the two monitors (without having to use my monitors remote to change between the two inputs).

Unless your monitor has a button on it for switch inputs as some Samsung monitors do, one way you could do it conceivably is to go to the Catalyst Control Center and then under Graphics, select Desktops & Displays and you can right-click on the input you don't want and then disable that monitor. If you want to use that input again, then you can just go back there and then right-click on the disabled monitor and click on "Replace" and it'll move to that input.

You can also accomplish this more easily within Windows display management. Just right-click someone on an empty part of your desktop and select "Screen Resolution". Then under multiple displays, select "Only show desktop on 1" or 2 if you prefer the second input. Though it does seem simpler to just use the remote instead of clicking around for these things.

Yeah, it would be, but I don't want to lose anything on the second monitor, which might happen if I get especially care free with my window dragging.
