Clayp It may be helpful if you'd let us know how IE9 was faulty.

Honestly, I gave 9 and 10 a good look, for awhile. And I just didn`t like the layout. I like IE8 so much better. Granted I use Chromium as my main browser. You should give it a try, you might like it. Throw all the pages you want to open up in tabs, with your username and passwords saved ( if it`s a home pc ) and everything`s there for ya. :)

Chromium is nice. I use it in Linux. But in Windows, the IE is sometimes needed by the system or programs. Can't do without it.

As has been pointed out, IE9 should have both a 32bit and a 64bit version already installed on a computer that uses a 64bit operating system. If you still want to go back to IE8, then use the link in post #2 and/or watch the video in this post:

If you really must stay with IE8, then you will probably need to hide the Windows update to prevent being taken to IE9 or IE10 and someday, IE11.

If you only need a 64bit browser, then consider IE10:
IE uses the first instance of iexplore to manage the other instances. This allows for crash recovery and other things. Starting with IE10, that manager instance will be 64bit on a 64bit OS. The tabs or child processes will be 32bit instances of IE by default. You should turn on 64bit tabs. A 32bit instance will be launched if a plugin is needed that only has the 32bit version installed.
