Hello 7forums. This is my first post on this great forum, so hello to everybody!
I want to know how can I change the location of TEMP folder to delete manually those files which remain there and loads the memory of my PC.
And I got another question: what to do immediately after installing Windows? I mean all the stuff like tweaking and do those "finesse things", all those secrets.
Thank you!

Environment Variables

Welcome to the Forums.

Most programs will use Environment Variables to determine where the user wants temp files. The screen shot shows how to set the variables TMP and TEMP.

Window 7 is not like XP. You don't need to do all those tweaks like we did years ago.

I would suggest just leaving your temps where ever Windows 7 wants to put them. I know of no reason to moving them around.
If you want to clean up the junk just use this tutorial by Brink and let Windows 7 choose what to remove and when.

LaybackBear, wouldn't many utilities such as Windows Repair (All in One) put that stuff right back to original specs?

Windows Repair (All in One)

A few have use this program but I haven't. I have only seen a couple of results that helped so I don't recommend such a program without more information. Once one has done to much tinkering that has damaged things it could take for ever to fix all the problems created.

Window has a proper repair method and it's called a Repair Install.

Thank you!

We have no secrets on this forum on how to use Windows 7 properly. For a new person using Windows 7, I recommend leaving all the tweaking alone.

Take off the XP hat and hide it. Put on the Windows 7 hat and enjoy.
Spend the time learning how to use Windows 7 instead of mucking it up.

To not open another thread, Windows 7 is installing automatically all drivers that are needed?
And what to do immediately after installing Windows 7?
Please help me, I never did those things on my own, somebody else did this for me and this time I want to learn to do it by myself.
Thanks!

What is NVidia GeForce Experience? This is starting up along my Windows 7. I stopped this in msconfig menu, Startup tab.
What to do?
