Solved Changing monitor resolution in Windows 7 Pro

I recently changed my computer from Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Pro. Unfortunately Pro now has set my monitor resolution incorrectly at 1024 x 768 and I need to set it correctly for my Acer 22" to 1680 x 1050 but Windows doesn't offer that resolution. I've tried using the desktop rt click>Screen Resolution>Resolution route as well as working from the device manager but I can't find the setting I need. I know my monitor will support that setting as I was using it with my Windows 7 Home without problems. Could someone guide me on this, please?

Sounds to me like you need to re-install the graphics adapter driver/s.

Are you using the same type connection between the computer and monitor as you were before? Please go to Device Manager and expand display Adaptors, and see what it lists. If it lists standard VGA adaptor, the graphics drivers have not installed properly. If it lists your chip's graphics, as it should, there is another problem.

Make sure aspect ratio is set to 16:10 and not 16:9 or 4:3

Thanks, Imrankhan for the post and links, but my driver in ATI Raedon HD 4550 and I have the updated driver.

My problem has been solved. It turned out to be an outdated graphics card driver. Updating and fiddling with the program control panel allowed a reset of my resolution settings. Thanks for everyone's comments.
