Hello there! I recently installed windows seven and chose to install it on my D drive where Vista was also installed. My question is how do i make my C drive my primary storage as i have no more space in the D and tons in the C

easiest thing to do would be to reinstall windows 7 onto w/e drive you want it on.

if there are lots of things you've changed since you installed windows, you could use the windows backup tool's to make a backup of the current windows 7 installation, which you could re-apply after windows 7 is fresh installed on your c drive.

Backup and restore. Or perhaps if you boot into WinPE you could copy all of the files to the new drive. But if not done correctly you will have troubles booting Windows.

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.

easy, but it won't change the fact the "Program Files" will still be on the D: drive. If D: is out of space he is going to have a difficult time installing new programs.

Make a program files folder on the C: drive and when installing a program, just point it to there :) heh.

The best thing would be to back up and reinstall..

If only the world was so perfect where installers never wanted to extract or store anything on the D: drive (which they inevitably will, regardless if you try to install it to C or not).

What about creating a mlink with the Program Files?

Also, back in XP, I was able to change the default installation directory of programs by changing the path in Regedit.
