Character and notification icons too small

Hello, in my brand new installation of Windows the characters in the applications, for instance Skype and Mozilla are too small. Moreover the notification icon of Skype (the one that appears on the bottom-right corner once a user gets online) is really small.
I already tried to play with resolution and to increase the display size to BIG. In this latter case the dimensions of the windows just get too huge. Is there any way to adjust these settings? Thanks

I'm not sure what you are looking for but try this.
Right click Desktop/Personalize/Colors/Advanced Appearance
You will find there many choices for font size and colors.
Make notes of what you change so you can go back and undo if you don't like it.
I would also make a restore point before getting carried away so you can always go back to where you started.

Thank both for your guidelines but I haven't solved the problem. It is really strange since the windows explorer windows are okay, the problem is just for applications such as Firefox and SkyPe. Maybe I haven't found the correct section in the colors section. Any advice? Thanks in advance
