Check Disk, then BSOD...?

Great, got another problem with my computer....

So, today, I was using my computer like normal. Shut it down, and shortly started it back up to (ironically) back up some files.

chkdsk ran at startup for some reason--still not sure why. I did not ask it to do that. It went around deleting old things, recovering files, removing attributes, and so on, for several minutes. Then, it restarted like normal.

So far, so good, right? Then, I plugged in a USB hard drive (pretty key to backing stuff up), and sudden BSOD. The screen lasted so shortly that I could barely identify it. It restarted.

Obviously, that freaked me out a little bit, but the last time I got a BSOD, all I did was clean the registry using Trend Micro's system tuner, so I meant to do that. When I went to open it, though, it did it again. It was very fast. Uptime was probably about one minute at the time of the BSOD.

I am not sure what the problem would be, except that the disk check might have screwed something up. Any ideas? Getting to my files might be easier said than done for a while, so sorry if I cannot provide crash logs.

OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional (should have all recent updates)
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo P8400 @2.26GHz
RAM: OCZ 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3 1333 RAM
Graphics: NVidia GeForce 9800M GTS
Memory:
- OCZ Agility 2 SSD 60GB (OS and a few other programs)
- WD Scorpio 5400rpm 160GB (most of the storage)

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the appropriate section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Safe mode works, but there is no Windows\Minidump folder. Otherwise, I would be happy to post it... but not having it is an impediment. I may try starting it up normally and if it shows up, I will post it.

What is weird is that system restore is not working because it cannot find some javascript file in the temporary internet files (it points to: C:\Users\Atturo.Atturo-SSD-PC\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\46ZLM41S\conversion[1].js). That is from a restore point just before what it labels as a critical update at about 1 AM this morning.

There was one other restore point that I tried from two days ago. However, it came up with an "unidentified error" and then the restore point appears to have been deleted, leaving the one from today as the only one on the list to try.

EDIT: For some reason, everything is fine again. Several minutes into the boot, and I did all the things that made it crash before. So... I have no idea what the problem was. If I have any more problems, I will make sure to wrap up the details immediately and post them again.
