At @11:30PM I got a phone call that one of my credit card accounts had been locked out. It sounded like a recording. So I hung up. After about five minutes I decided to check my accounts out. Sure enough I had one that was locked out. My browser directed me to a page to request an unlock password. OK? I requested one. There was a warning on the page not to close the page. I am sitting there waiting on the email which never came. Looking down the page I noticed the email address that was listed for my account was not my email address. There is where I picked up the phone. I had a really hard time explaining to the rep what the problem was. We were not communicating at all. Finally she said the magic words "do you want me to cancel the account and issue a new number?" I said yes. The balance she quoted to me for the card did not seem unreasonable. So I have to wait until tomorrow to finish straightening it out. My phone went dead during this conversation and I lost the connection. But when I got another phone and called back they said the account had been closed. I am guessing I caught it in time.

Sure sounds like you caught it in time. Damn, these creditcard scams are getting more and more advanced.

Yepperz, you can't be too sure of anything anymore. I got a couple calls over the past year about my credit cards and they left a number. I called the number on the back, not the number on the machine, & when I asked if anyone called, they told me no.

Its a good policy to have two or more accounts and not to have a credit card but a debit card, so before a purchase you transfer the amount of the purchase from one account to the debit account, taking in to consideration you have the funds to transfer :)

I agree with Ciara as I have two credit cards..
One which I do online purchases from e-bay or PayPal or other sites. This account has a bare bones amount of money in it.
The other one is my personal debit account for paying bills online and I monitor this account on a daily basis.
On the back of the card where it requires a signature I put "SEE ID" and if they don't I remind them to look at the back of the card.
Better to be safe than sorry!
