China anti-trust regulator conducts new raids on Microsoft, Accenture

A Chinese anti-trust regulator conducted new raids on Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) and partner in China Accenture PLC (ACN.N), the agency said on its website on Wednesday, after saying last week Microsoft is under investigation for anti-trust violations.

The State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) raided offices in Beijing, Liaoning, Fujian and Hubei, it said. The SAIC also raided the Dalian offices of IT consultancy Accenture, to whom Microsoft outsources financial work, according to the regulator.

"We're serious about complying with China's laws and committed to addressing SAIC's questions and concerns," a Beijing-based Microsoft spokeswoman said in an e-mailed statement.

Sounds like they are getting in prep work so they're in a better place to organize a deal to get there spy's back from the USA..

Hi there

China and anti-trust !!!! That's a good one. Sounds a bit like using a Fox to guard the Hens in the Henhouse.

However my experiences with "Accidenture" haven't been the greatest either -- think I've been on more failed / abortive projects when they've been involved one way or another than the number of Golf Balls used during their Golf tournament sponsorships I've seen -- So for once I'm in Partial agreement with the Chinese on this one.

As far as Ms is concerned - IMO they are quite OPEN as a company -- if you want to develop new hardware or even software they usually seem to be quite encouraging so I really don't know what's got the Chinese Goat about Ms.

Expect a new "Windows Clone" any time at all !!!!! even in English. Possibly free or at the most several YUAN. (Probably about 5 USD max).

All jokes aside, between ReactOS and WINE a "Windows clone" is very much a reality even today.

The Chinese government is mad at Microsoft for it's steps to hinder counterfeiting.
The Chinese counterfeit most everything from toys to Microsoft anything.
Counterfeiting is a major portion of China's GNP.
