China gives Microsoft twenty days to respond to antitrust inquiry

In the last few weeks, Chinese authorities have conducted two raids on Microsoft offices and facilities across the country, as part of an investigation into alleged antitrust violations by the company. The exact nature of the probe remains somewhat ambiguous, although a recent report indicated that it concerned Microsoft's bundling of Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player with its Windows operating systems.

That can't be good. With China's track record, it's not too far fetched an idea to think that this could be another attempt at illegally obtaining technical secrets.

Does anyone else think it's absurd that a communist government is pursuing anti-trust charges against a foreign based company?

With China's history of spying on their own people and hacking everything they can in this country, I seriously doubt anti-trust has anything to do with their actions.

How can any body believe that a country with one of it's major parts of their GNP being counterfeiting is serious about a monopoly by anybody.
The Chinese operating system is going to be just like Russia operating system a copy of somebody else operating system with a few changes so they can pretend to the rest of the world, look what we did in a few months. The Chinese don't like Microsoft's plans on subscriptions. They don't like the COA being in the bios. Things like these make it hard to counterfeit.
All they are telling Microsoft is if Microsoft wants to sell a million copies in China you got to let us steal a million copies also. If not we are going to do all kinds of nasty things.
