I am using an old hd Maxtor 80 gig for my Win 7 system. Lately, at boot time, I am confronted with Chdsk daily. The first time I made it do its entire job and thought that would be the end of it, and also found some info on how to prevent it from keep doing it, and still it keeps repeating. I am concerned, cause I was on the verge of finding a way to clone Win 7, but fear that whatever is bugging that hd, may be included in the clone. I suspect, merely by reading, that chdsk is warning me that the hd is going to go south soon. In the meantime, after cloning i would like to add it to my new SSD drive that has Win 10 and use it as a dual setup. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
