I started disk check about 4 hhours ago. Windows 7 160 G hard drive. I see someone else is getting a progress meter. I have none. The screen is stuck at "Press any key within 1 second(s)." Is it running? Is it stuck?
I am running it because I went to back it up and it would not back up on an external hard drive. The diagnstics said there were corrupted sections. The report said the corruption was in my docs, picture, and other regular programs. I need to back it up, to send it back to HP for warranty work.
So why no meter?

Ok. I just got tired of waiting. I forced a shutdown and when it restarted, I got the same thing: Stuck at one second. Did this 2 more times and the check disk now is running. Wierd.

Glad it finally resolved itself.

Thank you. I run virus scans, sysyems checks a;; the good stuff all the time. I use not only the Windows programs but McAfee also. Even my son in law, who is a IT guy that travels all over the world for his company could not even access my wifi in my house. So, just for fun, how do I get bad clusters on a 6 month old laptop? Yes, I finally got the backup done. The stupid fan is noisy and I have to send it in. Sometimes I just want to shoot these dang computers!
