Chrome Frame Leaves Beta, All Set to Hijack an IE Near You

Google’s controversial Chrome Frame browser plug-in is now out of beta and ready for prime time. Chrome Frame is an Internet Explorer plug-in that replaces the default IE rendering engine, which is lacking in support for web standards, with the more modern and capable engine that powers Google’s Chrome browser. It essentially embeds Google’s browser inside any tab or window within Microsoft’s browser, giving even the older, antiquated versions of IE the gift of enhanced JavaScript rendering and support for HTML5 technologies like embedded audio and video.

I used Chrome Frame for a while. Whislt it was okay, it seems sort of pointless. Might aswell just use Chrome.

Looks like a good thing to me, don't think the hard core IE users will go for this, but great for the average user.

Ugh, yeah. What did you expect? This is business and has very little to do with Bill Gates, Sergey Brin or Steve Jobs.
As for philanthropy I imagine all these gentlemen are doing good things with their money.
I know the "Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" donated all the computers to my local library.
Sadly our current Government is trying to close it.

As for Chrome Frame, I don't know enough about it or it's implications to comment.
As has already been said, why not just use Chrome?
I do.

Chrome Frame was a pointless waste of effort, development money and time.
When IE9 comes out, There will be no need for it.
More importantly, there was no need for it in the first place.
as others have stated, why not just use chrome? which I refuse to do cause google has many many many REAL Ethics issues.

A good question. For me, IE9 is the browser I have been waiting for.

if i hadn't i would not have commented. and the article has to do with ie8 and below not ie9. as for ie9: tabs next to the address bar instead of a separate bar, the menu tool bar at the end of a bar instead of having it's own bar, the overall look still looks like some kid slapped it together. now to be fair it is still a first beta, so i will play wait and see. when i did run it it did come across faster than ie8. when it catches up plugin wise to chrome and firefox then maybe i'll switch to it as my main browser.

People for some reason fail to realize how unique the UI for IE9 Beta is and how well it works. Do we really need two lines, one for the address bar and one for tabs when they both work well in one line?

I personally think the UI is great. Seems to be faster then Chromium for me as well.

i can have up to 30 tabs open at a time so having a separate bar for the tabs is important to me. plus i like having my tab bar on the bottom, one less bar on top.

Chromium != Chrome.

I can understand where Geekfreak is coming from, though. It's why IE9 won't be enough to move me from Chrome.
