Ah, Chris Dodd. It seems like every time he opens his mouth, he makes things worse. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, he responds to a series of questions about SOPA by trying to tiptoe around the issue, but basically admits that there are backroom conversations going on between a small number of people, and that "between now and sometime next year," Hollywood and the tech industry will "come to an understanding." He's asked specifically if there are conversations going on now, and if the White House is pressuring folks to come to such "an understanding."

I will take your question as being rhetorical, because a full answer would be so long and redundant that it would be a waste of time to read. What is not a waste of time, is to focus on the known spear heads of this skulduggery, to eliminate them from future office, or at least place a stigma on them, because I do not believe that they are acting out of ignorance, and the other motivations scares me quite a lot.

I found it amusing that in the first link above, it says that 400,000 actors are out of work, trying to imply that the internet is responsible. However there has always been out of work actors, at every point in time, even before the internet and computers existed. Even if that entire number were an effect of the internet (which I will never believe), that works out to only 0.12837316662297538 percent of the population of the USA, and obviously far, far less of a percentage of the world population. That is not to say that they aren't important, but not enough that their interests out weighs that of every one else. The work forces of every other type of business has been forced to be reshaped for various reasons...some by the internet more than others, but I never heard of them attempting to destroy it, along with the rights and freedom of the world. Obviously, the use of the number of out of work actors is a red herring, designed to gain moral support for their "cause". Actually, there probably is at least that number of actors that should look for other types of employment anyway (that goes for some politicians as well)

The only thing that we can do at this point, is to take each and every attempt made in this direction, as a an indication for the need for us to reinforce our resolve to resist in every peaceful, moral and legal means at our disposal.

Well firstly, this particular conspiracy is on the national level, so burning down a state capitol wouldn't have any effect, except adverse ones, and secondly it would not qualify as either peaceful, moral or legal...but then you already knew that.

It seems kind of odd that you identify yourself with the actions of the British in this respect, because it wasn't that many years previous to the war of 1812, that Americans took part in the French and Indian War, which made you part of the British Empire. It seems doubly odd that you take pleasure from the idea of having a hand in the aggression and destruction that is sometimes referred to as the Second Revolutionary War. In any case, the burning of Washington had little bearing on the outcome of the war, because it was settled by treaty without any winners.

Some may say that I read too much into it, but the fact that the fires were extinguished by a 2 hour deluge of heavy rain would seem to indicate that God didn't like the fire much either. However, if it gives you pleasure to remember this as you do, then by all means do so, because it has no effect of me or my fellow countrymen now.
