Hello
Please pardon my ignorance. I can usually google things and solve my computer problems but now I am stumped. I have a BSOD error every time I use DropBox. I am trying to follow the directions to post the info properly but have got myself lost on the first step :( I don't understand which dump file option I am supposed to use. I'm sure there is a simple answer but I just don't understand. Thank you for any clarification you can provide.

Ok Here is my first attempt I hope I did it right.
I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit Dell studio 1745
Intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T9600 @2.8 GHz
4.00 GB RAM

Everything works perfectly except when I am syncing files to dropbox- I have been doing this for several months to 1 year but the problem began a few months ago. I get an IRQL_not_less_or_equal screen whenever I try syncing. I uninstalled my antivirus since that was the only new thing I had done-yet the problem did not occur immediately after. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing dropbox. I have used a driver update and updated drivers and fixed the registry with no resolution.

Hi there,

There aren't any .dmp file in your attachment. These are required to analyse the BSOD.

Follow these steps:
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

Then, when the system next BSOD's, follow this:

1. Download this .BAT file to your desktop

Download

2. Right-click the .BAT file and 'Run as Administrator'
3. Locate the .ZIP file created on your desktop, and upload it here in your next reply.

Here I go again! I cannot use the application as it says access denied-I ran as administrator. I ran the other tool again after the last BSOD and double checking the dump file steps.

I am so frustrated I have tried option 1 and 2 for setting up a mini dump. The tool says that it has collected the info while it is running. Do you think it cannot collect the info? The blue screen happens extremely quickly and the restart is almost instant.

I understand it's frustrating, without the dumps it is hard to find out what is causing them though.

Did you click the grab all button and wait long enough?

On the other tool I posted in post #3, try right clicking and then properties, then click the unblock button, then apply. Try it again.

I unblocked the .BAT file but it still says access denied.

With the other program I wait until it is finished. It actually says it has copied the crash dump successfully but yet there are no files there. I just ran the elevated command prompt and checked the debug type and it gave me 3-which as I understand is for the minidump. I don't know what else to do.

I have now tried all 3 options to configure the crash dumps but nothing results in any info being saved!

I really appreciate your help and patience. I am definitely not an expert but the tutorials are so well written and easy to follow I don't think I am doing anything wrong.

I know the easy solution would be to just stop using DropBox but I worry that the BSOD will eventually come back to haunt me.

OK, lets try this, can you navigate to C: Windows\Minidump and see if you see any thing there.

If there are dump files in that folder you may need to copy them to the desktop before zipping them up.

That file is empty. Is it possible that it restarts so quickly it just doesn't get generated? I can barely read the screen it is gone so fast.
