Clarification on the Date for Bi-hourly Shutdowns for t

Over the weekend, some of you may have received an email from us reminding you that the Windows 7 Beta expires on August 1st, 2009. In that email, we ask that if you are still on the Windows 7 Beta that you should consider moving to a “non-expired” copy of Windows such as the Windows 7 RC or Windows Vista because bi-hourly shutdowns will begin June 1st.

The Windows 7 Beta does expire on August 1st, 2009; unfortunately the date for when bi-hourly shutdowns will begin for the Windows 7 Beta was incorrect however.

Bi-hourly shutdowns for the Windows 7 Beta will begin July 1st, 2009 as we’ve stated both here in this blog post on May 5th and also in the Windows 7 RC FAQ.

We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused.

I’ll be posting a reminder that bi-hourly shutdowns will begin for the Windows 7 Beta as we get closer to July 1st.

In the meantime, if you’re still on the Windows 7 Beta you should certainly look at giving the Windows 7 RC a try! You can register to download the Windows 7 RC here.

Lol ......well i don't think so.........I bet hackers out there will surely find a way to crack that bi-hourly shut downs and even extend the expiration date, why, even wipe out the date.....what do you guys think ?

A code put into the system that regulates auto shutdowns and overrides everything else.....

Maybe.

I bet they will force an update that will begin the process closer to the date so people won't be able to change it until it is too late. Then again, if you have updates off you wouldn't be able to get the update.

As some stated earlier, probably just some code that links to the windows time server so resetting your own clock doesn't delay the shutdowns.

From what i have read, they are currently saying Windows 7 will be more expensive then its counterpart in Vista. I have seen no real numbers but i bet it wont be just a few dollars.

Probably more in the $50+ is my bet. It is nice to see that Microsoft did in fact remove the 3 application limit on the Starter Edition for laptop use.
