Umm, I have been having the black screen of death before logon and I want to know if a clean install will do anything?
Also it is an ISO and I do NOT know what I will be doing..I know how to mount etc.
I have seen a forum but I am too stoopid for it
Any help would be appreciated. I also want to know that if there is a "cure" for this black screen?
Also, I was thinking that doing a clean install would stop the VD from running half way through and screw my computer...like while windows is deleting all programs.

I did Repair, system restore and sfc/scannow or something.
None of them worked :/
Please help. thanks

An even better method without using the command line will be the Windows USB/DVD Tool:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31541-windows-7-usb-dvd-download-tool.html

You even get an option to turn the ISO into a disk or into a bootable USB flash drive installer. :D

Okay, thank you.
I found my old vista home premium disc so I am going to clean install that, if I use my Windows 7 iso and upgrade to it, will it do the same as a clean install of 7?
I think this may work and I almost have vista done.
thanks.
Rangi

Forgot to point out that I jammed most of my good files and the Windows 7 iso on the recovery disk :)

You can't boot an ISO which has other files included. You need only the Win7 ISO file burned to DVD.

Since you are installing Vista, go to Disk Management and shrink Vista by about 4gb, create a Primary partition, then extract the Win7 ISO to the small partition using 7zip. Once this is done, run Setup to Custom Install Win7 to the Vista partition.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2672-partition-volume-shrink.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2674-partition-volume-create-new.html
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html

If this fails, you can try an in-place Upgrade to Vista by running Setup, or create another partition to install Win7 - later we can help you get rid of Vista.

Kinda helps, but you see, I am a stupid person.......Vista has just had the clean install done...All I did was stick the iso and my fav files to the recovery drive(via 7zip) and not all my files are on the iso...in the 7zip I have my music and pictures alongside of 7 iso.
I dunno what disk partition is etc...got a tutorial for an idiot?

Thanks :p

Okay, well for some reason it made a file called "windows old" I am thinking of just deleting it because it has all my old files that I was wanting to delete :/
Should I do that before I follow your instructions?...I found 7zip this way hehehe didn'tneed to re-install

Also I am extracting the iso now so it doesn't need to be done later.

After that I will start on your instructions.

Wait before deleting windows.old until you make sure you have everything out of it.

Okay, thank you....I do have everything I pretty much wanted(would want more but it is only a 6gb recovery drive) :(

I can just get my programs again....But what would I do about my AVG?
I want to keep it...Do I just copy it from the programs file and see if it will fit in recovery?
I do own this full version of AVG but was brought online so I do not have a disc for it.

I have just decided to write down my product codes for the programs that I have brought
Fail
Oh well. I don't care about them no more...Just buy them again. :/
So I am deleting "windows.old" (was 50 gb) :/

Okay then I am going to re-download 7 zip...will I need poweriso to do it again?

You can download AVG from their website. But I would use MS Security Essentials. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Have you extracted the Win7 ISO files to a 4gb primary ntfs partition you shrank from Vista? Do it now, using 7 zip or PowerISO.

Then rightclick Setup to Run As Administrator, select Custom install, see if it will install to Vista partition.

If not try choosing Upgrade install.

Not yet..I am deleting windows.old now so my computer won't run slowly.
Sorry that I haven't started yet....I know this is a big step but once the windows.old has been deleted and I have downloaded 7zip and team viewer could you do it for me..I am as stupid as a cow :/

Sorry for asking for so much :(
I am currently on my other deskptop which is running XP home edition SP3.
Sorry for the slow answers
