Clean Install W7 Home Premium_Prep

Howdy-From S.C.How would I go about a clean instalation on my laptop.I didn't get a CD ISO.I know I can download this file from several sites(Which is the legit one?)What about the product key?I don't have that either.Everything was OEM.How do I save my files and apps,and how/when do I reinstll them?Thanks in advance.​

Welcome

Every mfg makes it possible to return to factory specs, either by using and fkey or by DVD. If you did not get a DVD, read this.

If this link does not help, then check your manual. It will tell you about factory specs.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,System Recovery is the same as a clean install,then?I AM familiar with that-had to use it several times(experimenting)Yet it also installs bloatware.Take the good with the bad.......By the way,I have burned a couple system repair discs and disc images as well.Guess I can Recover and then RE-Image?

When you buy preinstalled you have to live with what they give you. That is why so many upgrade when a new OS is sold. If you buy just Windows DVD there is no bloatware..

Another option you have...

If you know someone that has a disc of the same version of Windows 7 that you are running (Home Premium x64) You could always use that disc to get a clean unbloated install, while still using the OEM key provided to you by your computer manufacturer.

Do you have a Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your laptop? That should be your key.

Why yes,there is a sticker!Imagine that.Thanks for the info.I never thought to look at the bottom of my laptop.Only for cleaning.

With that Product Key you can clean reinstall using a borrowed Win7 DVD of any version, since all versions can be unlocked by extracting the ISO to run the ei.cfg removal tool below, then burn an all-versions DVD to install your licensed version with Key. http://lifehacker.com/5438005/eicfg...-use-any-product-key-with-your-windows-7-disc

The installer is mostly driver-complete, with newer arriving quickly via Optional Windows Updates. Any missing drivers can then be found on the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model.

Do yourself a favor and install Microsoft Security Essentials, the experts choice for free lightweight anti-virus and spyware protection. It installs in 30 seconds and then pretty much becomes invisible unless you encounter a threat.

Stick around and read up some more until you locate a Win7 installer and feel you are ready to clean reinstall.

Hi,gregrocker.MSE is what I have.I tried Zone Alarm-really didn't fare well with my system.It locked folders and files so that I couldn't use System Restore,among other things.After trying a couple other vendors,I ran across MSE and everything is smooth sailing.I honestly think it is a better product than what I have tried in the way of free and paid programs.MSE works seamlessly with my OS and uses very little resourses.I'm extremely happy with it.
I would honestly prefer to use all MS components,yet I know that that may not be feasable.

Thanks for the encouragement.I'm not going to give-up.I am as I type this trying to download a legitamate copy of ISO.We'll see.What do I have to lose?I get a little aggravated sometimes,then I have to remind myself that this is a logic based problem.Emotions can only be detrimental in this situation.

Pardon me.

If my laptop runs both 32-bit and 64-bit interchangably,must I have both .iso's?Or will 64-bit run all apps?I know I have to run 32-bit explorer to access some java apps.

Is there a tutorial I've missed?:huh:

Or am I confusing IE 32-bit and 64-bit with W7?
