Clean install with upgrade discs

Hi,
I have an acer laptop which came with vista, i then upgraded it to 7 with the upgrade that acer sent me. I made an image of it which i had to use after getting a virus. I now want to install a clean installation of 7. After reading some of the other tutorials which said you can use the upgrade dvd to do this, i tried it but with no joy.
I changed the BIOS to boot from DVD drive but the upgrade DVD does nothing.

I have the acer recovery discs but they were made when the machine had vista on it. i've used them but after i use them the "bootmgr is missing" and i have use my image again to get the computer up and running again.

What am I doing wrong?

I believe the Acer Upgrade DVD will only work from Vista desktop.

Manual how to use Acer eRecovery Management here:
ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/empowering_technology/NB%20ET2%20user's%20guide/Acer%20eRecovery%20Management%20English.pdf

Have you tried pressing <Alt+F10> at boot up, to goto the Acer eRecovery Management.

You can Order Acer recovery disks from here:

The Acer Upgrade kit includes a Win7 Installation DVD which is bootable and can do a clean reinstall. We have two here which were booted successfully to clean reinstall.

Did you recieve the Acer kit with a DVD with Win7 Product Key on it, and another CD with drivers and apps?

Place the DVD in the drive, restart the computer, firmly tap the Acer F12 key repeatedly to get a boot menu, choose the DVD drive to boot. Or to set the DVD drive first to boot, follow these steps: How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

Then follow these steps which apply to get a perfect clean reinstall of factory OEM: Reinstalling Windows 7

Hi Greg

Did Acer do two types of upgrade disk?
As OP said, NO to drivers disk.

The Upgrade kit which Acer mailed has an apps and driver CD plus the Installation DVD which is bootable.

Possible he got something else, but so far everyone I've heard from here has gotten the same.

Does it say Win7 Installation DVD? Try booting it now by restarting then tapping the F12 key.
