Clevo P151EM1 frequent BSOD

I mentioned that the manufacturers often alter their drivers so that any you get from other places won't work.

Sorry mate didn't see that you'd replied, I've been editing my previous post a bit.

In the game that can cause crashes the CPU cores aren't going over 65c and GPU 75c.

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html.

The graphics that crashed last is the graphics inside your CPU> It is a part of the CPU. The Nvidia Graphics is a separate graphics card. See what happens when you uninstall the current driver and reinstall the new driver from the Manufacturer's web site.

I've updated my PC Spec list. The current Intel driver is from the Intel driver update utility, so I should try get it from Clevo instead? I think the latest one they have listed is from 2013 as my laptop model is discontinued.

I'm running the latest manufacturer Intel VGA driver, just had another BSOD however. Driving me nuts because when using bluescreenviewer they all seem to reference a different thing.. when it crashed this final time I was running Prime95 to check max cpu temperatures.

How long did Prime run and what were your CPU temps? If your BSOD was during Prime the Graphics card should not be the reason. Prime has little to no effect on graphics. But, your graphics right now being in the CPU, it's theoretically possible.

I trust you haven't overclocked the Laptop.

Hey only ran Prime for about 15minutes before it BSOD, max CPU temperature was 97c but they typically sat between 88-93. Should I stop running prime and just use the laptop as normal to focus on the original issue? Nothing is overclocked.

That is entirely too hot for the CPU. Many/most laptops cannot run Prime because of temps. What CPU Temp program did you use? Software readings are notoriously wrong and your max temp is 105C. So, you were right at the max. I would suggest not running prime and stay with what we are trying right now.

No worries, I did notice today that while gaming the GPU temperature goes higher than I thought (up to 90c). The CPU cores are pretty decent around 67c. Do you think it's worth trying to redo the paste on the GPU? It all looks pretty dust free and the fan is supposedly running at 100%.

That's the GTX 670M, which I thought you weren't using, and may have been the problem all along. Your Intel GPU is supposed to be what you are using. At least that's what I thought. With the Intel, the GPU temp should be the same as the CPU temp.

If you set the Global preferences in the Nvidia Control Panel like I showed, it shouldn't use the Nvidia card. I would like to make sure the Intel works OK before you follow the second part and disable it.

Hi sorry, I went back to using the Nvidia after I still got a BSOD whilst I was only using the Intel. So I thought that meant the Nvidia GPU wasn't the cause. Should I go back to only running the Intel GPU and disable the other one?

Post #18 was where I was running on solely the Intel GPU and had a BSOD after 15minutes of gaming. I've disabled it again now and set the Intel GPU as preferred.

Did you go back to the older version of the Intel Driver from the Manufacturer? As I recall, the only BSOD after I thought that happened was when running Prime. Just keep watch and make sure it is not using the Nvidia card.

Yep atm using the older Intel driver from manufacturer, and should be solely using the Intel GPU.

We need to disable the Nvidia in Device manager and in BIOS if you have that option. But, I first want to make sure you are able to run only the Intel OK first. Depending on what games you are playing, you may need to lower the settings. The low to moderate games should be pretty much OK. You may have issues with some of the high end games.

I'm only playing Heroes of the Storm atm so it's not too graphic intensive, running at 720P on lowest settings the Intel GPU seems to handle it okay. Just had a BSOD after about 20 minutes.

No options seem to exist in my BIOS to disable the Nvidia card so I've just got it disabled in device manager and Nvidia program.
