I would say start over, delete what you have on the external and copy it over again.

Well that would probably solve it but I would lose many of the videos as it all seems going haywire....2 and half men plays boston legal instead.

When you click on the original file, does it play the right thing ?

Some videos play the right thing while others play another video from the HDD.

GF could be the problem. Some people don't understand the differences between SAVE and SAVE AS.

Nope thats not it either...I used to watch southpark earlier plus my gf is a techie
I suspect the file indexes have gotten corrupt...this is only happening on my external HDD movies and not my laptop HDD...Perhaps it may gotten screwed when I unplugged the HDD while running...Just a thought.
