In XP I have a shortcut which opens up the clipboard so I can see what is on it.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\clipbrd.exe

In Windows 7 I looked for a command to make a similar shortcut but I was not able to find clipbrd.exe. Does it go by another name now or is it gone?

Hello Jambe,

The clipboard is still in Windows 7, but can only store one item at a time. It cannot be opened to see what is in it like in XP.

The free program ClipMagic worked great to allow this in Vista, but I have not tried it yet in Windows 7. You might give it a try to see how it works for you.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I downloaded ClipMagic but I could not get it to work in Windows 7.

I'm wondering if I copied clipbrd.exe to 7 if that would work. I doubt it, but worth a try. If it works I'll post back.

I said I was going to try copying clipbrd.exe from XP to 7 to see if it would work.

Wah-hoo. It does work! At first it appeared that it didn't. Here's what I had to do to make it work.
There is a toolbar (File Edit Security View Window Help). Click on Window, then on "1Clipboard". Size the window and from then on it is a clipboard viewer.
