hi
I have dozend of idendical PCs - same mainboard, vga, HDD, LAN, RAM .. all is the same
instead of installing each PC manuell I setup one PC and use Acronis or Ghost to DNA copy the hard disk sector by sector
for xp64 all is working like a charm - after clone I set IP and PC name and that it

for win7 prof. I do the same but my PC randomly reboot within 3min to 40min

I have
-no hint in event log (expect impropper shutdown)
-stoped most services
-killed all task
-no bluescreen, popup, error message
-"disable reboot on system failur" do not affect
-disabled all onboard hardware bios and disabled non importent devices
-lastest drivers (or factory drivers)
-disable all "energy save" options
-installed all W7 updates and fixes
-win7 boot without problems
-common up to date hardware

only "save mode" is stabil and not reboot (within 12 hour tested)

I install W7 -> plug disk to other PC (new hardware found message about HDD) -> pc permanent reboot randomly within 3 min -> disk back to source PC -> all fine

I have no clue what to do (poem)
I waste 14 days on that matter without success

any hints?

Do you have a license for each Windows installation? If not, then maybe you are running into trouble because you have the same OS running on multiple machines.

Microsoft might not know, but Windows might. If you want to test, you can use Windows unregistered for 30 days, before things start shutting down.

Yes, but you are cloning an installation instead of doing a new install each time. I wonder if Windows might be detecting that and giving you problems. Try doing a clean install each time instead of a clone. You can use Windows Easy Transfer to backup/restore your files.

if one of my servers die with disk error I cant reinstall all and everything again
I run dozend of applications with hundreds of plugins
over time I update and modify that may little thing I not remember 9 weeks later
I need my servers identical up to the last bit

I wonder why W7 cant bear the "movement"
IBM not install each PC by hand - they clone a master disk as I do

its not a matter of cloning
even if I use the orginal disk and put it to another server I am back at reboot

Well, I will not push this any farther. Try doing a clean install each time. If you want a carbon copy for backup, Windows 7 has the ability to create a system image. If you want to use third-party cloning software, you could clone the hard drive, and restore it back to the same machine.
Hope this helps.

Well... not much I can say. Windows backup is good, but if you want to clone your drives...
You ask why your computer is rebooting. I personally believe it has to do with the clone.

If you want advice on backing up, we will be happy to give it to you.
