Well, 1, your breaking the EULA if you proceed, and 2 your probably wont have access to Windows Update, and 3 i'm not sure if your Windows will stay activated/be able to be activated.

I'm really not too good with the Legal chat, one of the other members can probably describe it better, but that's the best i can describe it to you.

Technically you can, but then you might need new product keys to re-activate your w7 on those other machines.

What you'll find after reimaging is you'll get a non-genuine version of w7 message (from memory), and who knows what happens days after that, the FBI might turn up to your house or you just cannot log onto your OS.

You'll lose activation as soon as the moved HD acclimates to the hardware, Win7 activation realizes it is not where it is supposed to be.

This is why you need to change the key at Computer>Properties to refresh on new hardware, if you move the HD. You can move a retail copy in this way, just not have it on more than one machine at a time; and it will notice that it is on another machine and require reactivation, sooner rather than later.

At the most, you will need to update drivers but this is not a prevention for imaging a HDD. I've done "cloning" of w7 from laptops to laptops and even to VM, and only had the activation issue.

Agree. I'm surprised how well it works when swapping HD's out on Win7 installs.

I love the show when it swaps out drivers, a Geek's waterfall. It may ask for multiple restarts. You sit there waiting for it to go bad...

The first few times was prepared to run every test to see how crippled it would be. But it passed them all with flying colors, and performance is normal so far in every case.

The only exception seems to be it needs matching number of cores.
