Cloning OS

I have been given an old Windows 7 pc that's running perfectly but only has 360 GB HD.Is it possible to "copy" my existing OS from the small to the new and then replace it with the larger one, I only have a narrow slot for a second HD and I'm not sure I could add another to the pc. I have read about cloning and would like to know if that's the way I should go, I am not expertly knowledgeable on computers and am a bit apprehensive about messing with the OS. (Dell OptiPlex 780)
