My PC makes a sound often for no apparent reason. I have determined it is the default (for my scheme) close program sound...

Any idea why it seems to randomly do this?

Could just be the same sound file for another thing than close sound. You can alter or disable windows sounds.

Hmmm sorry for the loooong delay

The problem is that BOINC Starts/Stops processes it is running when the PC is idle or in use.
