Solved cmd problems...

Hey everyone who reads this,

So I was trying to learn some cmd basics and I cannot seem to figure out how to have admin privileges. I even looked at a similar thread explaining how to do this, however, it did not work for me. anyone got some info on how I can start running cmd with admin privileges. I warn you I am rather new to the computer world (besides basic needs for school and internet and some other basics) any help would be great and please try to make it easy to understand so that I can figure it out quickly. Thank you!

OK you can run an application with elevated privledges, but if your user is a standard user, you will need to talk to the admin (if there is one) to give you those.

If you are running as an admin (you can check this in users.cpl) it should say so in the top bar of cmd. (see snip)

I am then only user on both computers I am having trouble with and i have administrator privileges already. Is there something I am doing wrong?
also, I am trying to add another user to the computer from command prompt simply because I saw a video of someone doing it so I thought I would try it for myself. it is still not working.

the cmd I am using is: net user test /add

To open an elevated command prompt:

Start > all programmes > accessories > right click on command prompt > select run as addministrator > accept the UAC warning. You are now admin in the console window.

To add a user:

net user (Username) /ADD (without brackets, space between username and /, also ADD in caps)

eg: net user Nigsy /ADD

i have administrator privileges already.

the cmd I am using is: net user test /add

Sorry meant to add - you are an administrator - you do not have admin privilages, that's what UAC is there for.

When you right click on an application and select run as administrator you are getting elevated access to the system AND CAN DO DAMAGE!

Open up your cmd and type in help it will give you a bunch of them. Be careful of what you do.

Thanks for those good sites Atrucker. To the OP, be careful when using the cmd prompt. Their is a lot of neat stuff there but used incorrectly it can cause all kinds of bad things. Caution should be used.
