Solved CMOS Error

My pc is showing cmos error from last 2 days , and after it starts it shows the date 1 january 2010 and time 12:00 . I have also replaced the cmos battery thrice , but it drained after 1 or 2 months . please help

Are you using a good quality battery? Cheap batteries may not last.

Looks like your motherboard is faulty. How old is it? I see that you have a custom built PC. Did you buy all the components yourself? If so where did you purchase the motherboard? Is it still under warranty?

it's only 1 year old . I purchased it myself , at that time it was brand new packed ..

Check all of the connections to the motherboard. You are looking for connectors that are not pushed all the way in, or devices not properly seated in their slots, or anything that could cause a short circuit (a errant conductor bridging two contact points - hair can do this!).

Look in your motherboard manual and find where the ClearCMOS jumper is. Check to be sure the jumper is on the correct pins (1&2). If the jumper is on the wrong pins or is missing that will cause the symptoms you are seeing.

If you have any warranty left on it I would return it. The CMOS battery should last years not months. On top of what TVeblen mentioned, I would check to make sure all the motherboard standoffs (mounting posts) are in the correct spots and that there isn't anything jammed up under the motherboard that may be shorting something out.
