Win7 Ult BSOD 0x7B CLASSPNP.SYS

Hello! My co-worker brought me her [personal] laptop because "it keeps crashing". When I received it I attempted to boot it up, and it went straight to the Startup Repair, I let that run, completely unsuccessful, as always, and it would not let me perform a System Restore to an earlier point. There was no System Image that could be reloaded, and when I ran the Windows Memory Test it completed with no errors. It will not boot into Safe Mode, it hangs on CLASSPNP.SYS. I found this thread when I attempted to run the sfc /scannow command I kept receiving the following:

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again.

Reading the BSOD-Posting Instructions the C:\Windows\Minidump directory is empty, and because I can't boot this thing I cannot run the SF Diagnostic Tool, I tried to run it from the recovery Console via command prompt, but no luck.

I have the disc, but cannot boot to repair the OS install, and cannot install because she upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista and has no clue where the key is.

Windows 7 Ultimate x32
Toshiba Satellite L305-S5921

I'm a little stuck now, and help from the community would be awesome, this is about as far as my "expertise" goes, just don't tell my boss lol.

I have removed the hard drive and plugged it up to another machine via USB adapter bridge, Ran Symantec's & Malwarebytes, both clean, ran chkdsk, all is well, ran Western Digital Data LifeGuard Diagnostics and it passed all test. Still crashing as before.

Any idea if nvidia storage controller is connected to the harddrive or the intel controller? Was the controller setup as AHCI or IDE in win7? Still same setting in bios? did you do something with bios that could have flipped some setting?

No impact/no idea on the nvidia question, sorry, but I did change the BIOS settings from AHCI to Compatibility, but it resolved nothing, so I changed it back to the original setting AHCI, do you still want me to run the command you posted previously?

All 3 driver packages were successfully removed. Restarted the laptop, and still crashed immediately with the 0x7B.

I did ugrapde sata to nvidia storage nforce3 controller driver on my system (I did a fake upgrade). But I don't have the controller on my system!

I think win7 supports it out-of-the box. Same for most (maybe all) INTEL sata controllers.
You entered "recovery environment" and were able to access C drive without loading extra drivers. So winpe (recovery environment) supports it.... then win7 itself supports them as well.

You have a empty DVD that can be burned? Try http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/292068-make-windows-7-bootable-after-motherboard-swap.html
On step 5 do "Adjust the OS to the new hardware automatically",
What drivers is it missing? see step 7 "what devices have no drivers"

It's a quite easy procedure. No need to read the pdf manual!

Procedure says:

After procedure has finished succesfully and system boots fine:

  1. Uninstall Device and Device Driver for devices no longer attached to system. Uninstall associated software as well. =>You didn't swap motherboard, so actually nothing changed. Only uninstall associated software associated to nvidia control and intel sata controller. "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" for example.
  2. Install all of your device drivers, then Windows Updates.=>check "device manager" any exclamation marks there? Any "other devices"?
  3. Refresh your Windows Experience Index (WEI) score. =>You already have a WEI score? If so, no real reason to update it
  4. When done, all you will need to do is to activate Windows 7. =>Not needed(?) Check if win7 has been activated

I don't think so. But 100% sure. Is it win7 home premium? You have a Certificate Of Authenticy sticker on laptop? (maybe on back, or in battery slot)
