Hey,

Basically, I install Call of duty 4: Modern warfare, during the installation it tells me there was an error installing directx 9 and then it finished the installation anyway. On launching the game (Campaign mode) it says something about direct X missing and can't launch the game. This is on a clean installation of W7 as well.

I assume you did, in fact, launch dxsetup.exe form the disk, instead of reinstalling the game? Well, then use the link above.

As far as CODWOW goes, you need ALL the available patches to ensure the game works correctly.

CoD4 latest patch brings it up to 1.7x not sure about WaW. There was an installation readme included in the D2D d/l some of the instructions geared for 7, just thinking the DvD probably lacks this. But the patches are at the ready.

You'll either have to update the game from their website, or from inside the game to get the latest patches.
