Solved Code 37 on All Universal Serial Bus ports.

Hi! I did a little searching to no avail.

This is my issue.

I have an HP Pavilion DV7 Laptop which came with Windows Vista Home Premium x64. Just recently had a HDD failure which was a Toshiba 320GB. I now run a 500GB Toshiba HDD and upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium.

My keyboard clearly works, sound/display/network/mouse everything basically works as it should except NONE of my USB ports work at all. I have gone into the Device Manager, uninstall-ed all of them. Then checked for hardware changes and still got the same thing.

All of them come up with Code 37.

How would I fix this. I am kind-a-sort-a a noob but I can follow instructions on how to fix it.

Have you tried running sfc /scannow
You might also want to try installing/re-installing the chipset drivers. ;)

Nevermind on the sfc /scannow. I figured it to run it through cmd in admin mode :)

PS: I hate using the touch pad mouse.. I am getting all worked up looking at my wireless mouse just sitting there.

Okay, so downloaded the chipset drivers. Restarted my computer. Doesn't seem like anything changed at all.

Seems like you might have to remove them all and then refresh by scanning for new hardware under Device manager

Yup, same error after I uninstall-ed the USB Ports and reinstalled them :(

I plugged a thumb drive in. The light comes on for about a second then it goes out. So I know the USB ports have to work and they are getting power because my laptop cooler which plugs into the USB port is working fine. But then again thats only using the USB's power to keep it running.
