I have an odd problem, everything seems fine on my win 7 setup, and was working great for a while, but I recently noticed that both my CD-RW and DVD drive are no longer recognized by 7.
When I checked the Properties of the devices, it said that the Driver (c:\Windows\system32\Drivers\cdrom.sys) was corrupt, but no amount of uninstall/reinstall, chkdsk, sfc, or Restore has been able to fix the problem. I also tried the Startup Repair option off the DVD.

Is there some way I can get my drives working again without a complete reinstall? I have a TSST Corp CD/DVDW TS-L652D ATA.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Saedmscs,

It would seem that during your setup some files got corrupted. However, I do believe this issue can be solved.

Open up a command prompt and type in "sfc /scannow"
This will look for corrupt files and then attempt to fix them.

Upon completion of the scan, it might tell you that there were file corruptions that could not be fixed. No worries though, simply restart your computer and if everything went ok this should have worked.

If this did not work, I have other troubleshooting ideas that might help.

Have you tried updating the driver from device manager?
