Hi,

OK, I have a Dell Vostro laptop running windows 7 64bit. Up until a week ago all was workinh fine and has been for some time. Then my printer stopped being recognized and Windows reported it was due to code 43. I've tried the normal options - unistall universal bus controllers, take laptop battery out etc but nothing fixes it.

Any other ideas?

It would appear to be a problem with the Samsung Printer, according to what Microsoft says about the error:

Code 43
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

Recommended resolution

One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.

If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem.

Hi,

thanks. I have tried a lot of things with the drivers. updated, uninstall then install again etc but still nothing works... I am beginning to think I will need to try replacing the USB cable and then my last hope is a problem with the printer itself. I don't think its a Win 7 problem if all was well for months leading up to last week. Something has malfunctioned... hardware or software... not sure which!

uninstall and run a check disk, the device is likely not a fault in any way at all, but a code 43 is a usb error that can often be resolved by uninstalling the device drivers completly using driver sweeper to clean up after and performing a full check disk to fix any file system errors which have probably occured to give this error.
