I am sorry. What I did was Reset Windows Update components automatically buy using the "fix it"button.

Hello!

I am sorry that you are having problems. I do see the problem from your CheckSUR.log. You have some corrupt files. I should be able to fix these. You need a custom fix for your machine, and until those corruptions are fixed, the problem will not go away. Resets will not help you. You may as well not waste time on them.

However, I am completely swamped at the moment. I will create this fix as soon as possible. In all likelihood, it will take me about 24hours.

I apologies again for the delay,

Richard

Hello again!

Time cropped up!

WARNING! This fix was created specifically for this user! If you are not this user, do not follow these instructions!

Download the attached .zip file. Inside it, will be two folders, Packages and Manifests.

Create these folders if it does not already exist: C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages\ and C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests

Extract Packs.zip onto your Desktop. Please the contents of my Packs\Packages in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages\ and my Packs\Manifests in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests.

DO NOT place the .zip file in that folder, or the folders themselves. Make sure that a lot of files are in each of those Checksur folder.

Re-run the System Update Readiness Tool, and get me another copy of C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Thanks!

Richard

Hi Richard.

How do I run the System Update Readiness Tool? Do I have to re-download it?

Thanks.

Hello!

Have you placed the files as required? Once you have, you need to run the file which you downloaded. Look in your Downloads history, or your Downloads folder. If, however, you have lost the media, then yes, you will have to re-download.

Thanks!

Richard

Hi Richard. I have done your initial instructions. I had previously downloaded the System Update as seen in my Updates History below.

Hello!

Sorry about that. I didn't realise that you hadn't downloaded SURT from the Microsoft website. Anyway, unfortunately, the log has not changed :( SURT did not detect those replacement files. My best guess would be after the restarts and the like, something inside Windows cleaned out those Temp files. Can you please make sure that there are 36 .cat and .mum files in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages\ and 38 .manifest files in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests and then re-run SURT.

I am really sorry this is dragging on as it is,

Richard

Hi Richard.

I have verified that there are 36 .car and .mum files and 38 .manifest files. I re-run SURT by downloading it (again) from Microsoft Support. What is always being downloaded is:
