Codec recommendation?

Hey i'll be using Vuze , (and limewire) and i would like a HD and SD codec for windows 7 , i'm kinda new tho. i have a divx codec system so i don't know if i should change or choose a different one , divx codec updater hasn't detected an updated like in a year or so , so any recommendations on codecs
