Cold boot IDE detection

I'm not sure why it does this. But if i start the computer up while its been off for a while, it gets to the POST screen and gets hung on "locating IDE connections", but if i hit the restart button it finds them instantly.

Any ideas why this would happen?

You may need to replace your CMOS battery.

I restored to default settings but it still hung there. I checked the date and time in the bios and it was current. Do you still think it could be the battery?

Try a BIOS update, you may have a bad BIOS.
