does anyone have good advice for a new college student?

Go to class. Despite what people tell you, a lot of professors do care is you show up. I got a D in one class last semester, that I would have a gotten an A in if I went to class. I seriously got an A or B on every assignment, and turned them in on time, but skipping a few times resulted in me getting a D.

Also, check out the Academic Superstore. They have a ton of software for really cheap, although sometimes you can get the software from the maker for less.

Study, study, study - and do not waste your time on the ancillary activitities. The time you lose you can never recover. In todays professional world, only the best will make it.

Focus on your studies like others have said. Obviously make some time to party and such...but don't do it all of the time. While the party stories are cool down the road, the education usually determines job ability, pay grades, etc.

I am a new student in college and I will give you some advice I have picked up so far!

1) Go to sleep.
2) Go to class.
3) If you decide to party, you'll be bored of it in three months max, so don't bother.
4) Clean everything.
5) Make lists. You'll forget anything that's important.
6) Ask questions. Not only will you learn, but the professors will like you and you will benefit if they like you.
7) Add phone numbers to your contact list that might be useful (like 24/7 medical places, cabs, and a non-emergency police number).
8) Study.
9) Study.
10) Bath.
11) Know your roommate's schedule.

My advice to you...

Good and true advices. If you study hard now, later you can have all cool things, for many years. A nice car, a big house and at least one sexy chick means hard study now. Or you can have fun now and dream at all things that you could have later .
Or ignore all these tips and do what you love
