Combining a PC, laptop, & a 360.

Hey, I currently have a PC, and laptop setup which works perfectly, and I also have a Xbox 360 but I have yet to play online because I don't have Wireless adapter for the 360, so today I brought 12 months worth of a Live subscription and a D-Link Wireless G USB Adapter & I have a D-Link DSL-G604T.

I have installed the drivers on my main PC & everything seems to be working great, it now lets me select a wireless network to connect to, but the problem is that it won't let actually connect to it, the reception says it's full and when I enter the password/key the password/key window disappears and it doesn't connect to it.

I haven't plugged the 360 in yet since I can't use the net on the PC, any chance I could get some help with this problem.

Extra notes:
- using WEP ~ 128bits.
- I'm running Windows 7.

You may want to try switched from WEP to WPA2. Its more secure.

Anyways are you able to connect via wireless from any other computer/electronic device?

I can use the internet on my laptop with my modem not plugged in via Ethernet, so yes.
I just plugged in my 360 to my modem (it works ~ but not wireless).
Just need to do my PC now.

edit; just changed to security to WPA.

edit II; dammit did the wrong one, gonna change to WPA2 now.

edit III; up & running in WPA2.

Try troubleshooting it and tell me what it says (even though 3/4 of the time it doesn't even help you).

Try troubleshooting it and tell me what it says (even though 3/4 of the time it doesn't even help you).

Didn't say anything, just saying windows couldn't identify the problem, try switching the modem off for 10 seconds etc, tried everything that was on the list.

I originally thought it may just be due to 'reception', even though it's at full bars but I put my modem about 1m away from the PC where the Wireless USB device is, and it couldn't connect, I then tried it without any security, it connects to it for about 3 seconds and then loses connections, so maybe it's an authentication problem?

Might be a bad USB Wireless Adapter. Try the adapter on your desktop and connect through wireless? If it doesn't work with that then you can blame the adapter.

USB isn't really the best option anyways.

It's the only option I'm pretty sure, I can't bring 360 where PC is, and bridging the connection doesn't work properly because I get IP conflicts, it was either buy the 360 Wireless Adapter for $150aud or buy a d-link adapter for PC and put modem in my room for $33aud. I'll take the adapter back now and get it replaced.

Newegg doesn't ship to Australia, I've searched Ebay and what not but I kind of don't want to be waiting a month for the device because I've already put Live on the 360.

I'll take it back to shops & get it replaced with a new one in about an hour or so, does it matter which brand I use, so eg. a Belkin one can connect to a D-link? just in case they don't have any other ones.

Try reinstalling/installing the latest drivers for both your Ethernet AND your wireless.

Nope, says it's connected but then 2 even before I get a chance to click the chrome icon in taskbar it disconnects

Yeah just did that, do you know how to find out which chipset it uses?

Already done that, it's the same files that came with the disc as well, I first tried the disc, didn't work, uninstalled the d-link environment thing, then tried the drivers.
