I put a recordable disc in my drive and went to my burning program, as soon as I tried to burn I got a blue screen, so I restarted the computer. I went to the device manager and removed the driver and re started again. I got the message box telling me it was installing the driver but it came back and said failed to install. I removed the player and replaced it with a similar unit and when I started it also failed to install. I can't read or write a disc. I replaced the power and sata cables to no avail. Could I have a mother board controller problem, if so, is there a solution without replacing the MB? It is a Lenovo desktop with an A6 processor running W7.

P.S. I see a message in the Device Manager driver properties saying "windows cannot start this hardware because it's configuration info in registry is incomplete or damaged. (code 19)

Thank you,
Len

Enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) then power down to plug in the drive, start Win7 to see if it auto-installs a driver in the System Tray, click on animation if so.

If not run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates with reboots, until there are no more when you Check for Updates. You might have a needed Performance Update relating to the drive in additon to a driver.

Let us know how this goes as there are other steps if these aren't sufficient.

Solved; Thanks, but I did a restore to yesterday and it fixed the registry.
