command.com install problem

My older version of Intuit Quickbooks 2002 Basic was working fine till I installed a free copy of Quickbooks simple start, then un-installed it about a week ago. Now it wont open, just flashes on and disappears. Trying to re-install from disc I get the message that "setup cannot find C:\windows\COMMAND.COM and cannot continue".
The old version was installed into my new computer about 2 years ago when it was running Vista 64 bit, before I up-graded to Widows7. No problems then.
Any help?

You'll want to back up, uninstall then manually delete these

• C:\Program Data\Intuit\QuickBooks <year>
• C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks <year>
• C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks<year>
• 64 bit version C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks <year>
