Solved Command Prompt factory reset Windows 7

Hi all,
I do a lot of Java programming on my computer, and as such I use the command prompt often. Unfortunately, recently the paths it opens to have changed, and when I use CD to reset them it is not finding files in that directory anymore. I made no major changes to my system that I can recall, but there it is....
Anyway, my question is this, how can I reset the command prompt to the factory default settings without having to completely reinstall Windows??

Has you tried a System Restore to a date before you had the problem?

Fromt he Command Prompt, enter path. That will show you what directories Windows looks in for commands. Sounds like yours is messed up.

For instance, mine starts with: PATH=C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;

followed but paths to other software I've installed that has command line support, like Acronis, IBM Object Rexx, Roxio, etc.

You can edit the path environment variable via Control Panel, System, Advanced system settings then click on Environment Variables button. Scroll down in the System variables section to path, select it then click the Edit button.

I am sorry to waste your time, but it was something else that was causing the issue, and I fixed it....

Well that nice you got it fixed. Can you tell us what fixed it?

I had the wrong directory There were two directories in Users that were mine, zlloyd, and zlloyd1. They both had a Desktop directory in them, and I was in the wrong one.... :huh: It was stupidity on my part really, sorry to waste your time again!!
