comparing video cards witch one has more bang for the buck

Hi i am thinking about getting up to date with a new dx 11 vid card i am shopping in the 100-200 doller price range what would bee the most powerfull card that will last me a long time without melting by going up to 90c

Any suggestions on different cards are welcome

I want it to stay fairly cool to reduce the chances of meltdown

I dont plan on oc'ing as to make the card last longer

also i have a 585w psu so i need somewhat of a less energy hog card

Well the Twin Forzr II is the best of the bunch for sure and will run nice and cool.

My concern is the power supply though.

It may be ok, I have to say I have not heard of Orion before so it might be worth looking into a new quality one with 650 watts +

my power supply is close enough to 600 watts that i will risk it

but like you said it is an unknown psu

i got it because it had good reviews and was cheaper than dirt

But if it does burn out i will buy myself i high quality 700-800 watt thermaltake or coolermaster.

Ive heard they are suppost to have good psu's

Deos anyone know the wattage recomendation twin frozr II

I have searched and searched and cannot find the recommended minimum psu for that card.

The thing is, you say "If it does burn out" you have to remember if it does it might take a number of other components with it.

Be careful.

One thing I have learned in all the time I have been a member on this forum is never to run a cheap power supply if you have a quality pc set up. If you want nice bits, the psu is the most important thing.

I was always told and now tell others before upgrading to a high end card, get a high quality branded psu.

If the cheap one fails it really could kill a lot of your other components on its way out.

I did a quick search for your psu and it costs around 29.99, I can't remember what country that was in either, but if it was the uk then that is a very cheap psu.

Sorry to rattle on about it but the last thing I want is for you to wreck your pc.

well i put some realy expensive equipment on my machine

So far i have got it's price tag to the several thousand dollar line i would hate to trash it would u recomend me a good psu preferably not to expensive

I am from the UK so can't really direct you to any links but Corsair and Antec are very good brands.

I have an old 8800 gts here with me now, it only requires 1x6 pin connector, the 6870 will require 2, so you would have to use a molex to 6 pin adapter with your current psu which is never a good thing either.

The HIS 6870 has this recommendation.

500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for AMD CrossFireX technology in dual mode)

And the Power Color 6870 says 500 Watt also.
